5. From a point A, a ship 20 km due North to a point B. It then changes course
and sails 100 km due East to a point C. From C it sails 100 km on a bearing
of 210o to a point D.

On graph paper, and using a scale of 1 cm to represent 10 km, make a scale drawing of the ship’s course.
Use your scale drawing to find the distance in Km, of D from A in a straight line.
Use your protractor to find the bearing of D from A.

6. Find the area of the triangle formed by the inter section of the lines y = x,
x + y = 10 and x = 0.

7. A bus left Kampala at 8.00a.m and traveled towards Iganga at an average speed of
80km/h. After the bus has travelled a distance of 40km a car left Iganga towards
Kampala at an average speed of 120km/h. Given that the distance between Kampala
and Iganga is 400km.
Draw a distance - time graph and fill in the following;
a) The time the car arrived in Kampala is a.m.
b) The time the two vehicles met is a.m.
c) The distance from Kampala to the meeting point is km.
d) The distance of the bus from Iganga when the car arrived in Kampala is km.
e) The difference in times of arrival of the two vehicles is hour and minutes.
